The feature was revealed by WhatsApp director Will Cathcart and Facebook co-founder Mark Zuckerberg during a WhatsApp chat in June. It appears to be available as an extension of the existing missing messages feature, allows users to delete messages in individual and group chats in particular after a predetermined period of seven days. In a report, WhatsApp's beta tracker WABetaInfo says Hiding Mode will be available as a new privacy setting for app beta testers. Some references to the update have reportedly surfaced on WhatsApp for Android Beta 2.21.18.7, although beta testers have yet to see the new feature in action on their devices. WABetaInfo also shared a screenshot showing the Disappearance Mode option as part of WhatsApp for Android's privacy settings. This feature is currently under development.

 In June, Will Cathcart and Mark Zuckerberg reportedly revealed their intention to implement Vanish Mode during a chat with WABetaInfo. This mode will essentially activate the Messages that are currently disappearing feature on all WhatsApp chat threads to make them temporary in nature. WABetaInfo recommends that everyone you chat with be notified of the update when you enable Hidden Mode on your end. In addition to intentionally testing Disappearance Mode per app, WhatsApp would work on improving the availability of temporary messages by introducing 24-hour and 90-day time limits, as well as a default clipboard, after which messages will not be released. more visible in discussions.
